Major achievement: We analysed and synthesised a mountain of reference material to produce a comprehensive training program with all the necessary resources for trainers and participants. According to evaluation results, the program is highly popular with both presenters and participants.
The project: On behalf of the Victorian Government, Turning Point trains health and community services workers around Melbourne in alcohol and drug issues. First, we worked with the developers of prototype competency standards for the alcohol and drug field to develop a curriculum consistent with the emerging standards.
Then, using our knowledge of the subject matter, and of curriculum and resource design, we structured the content of an intensive, modularised, six day program of information, advice and activities. We then wrote and produced all the required material, including workshop timetables, trainers' notes and scripts, attractive overhead transparencies, case study and role-play material, participants’ handbooks and evaluation questionnaires.
