Subject: Self-guided, competency based training in computer use
Major achievement: Possibly the world's first simple, easy-to-use training CD for people who have no knowledge of computer use.
The project: Most CD-based training materials, and many computer courses, presume at least a basic level of computer understanding (such as how to use the mouse and keyboard, and what the main features on the screen are). This CD presumes no such understanding, taking users automatically to simple keyboard and mouse activities to build knowledge and confidence.
Users then learn about the various parts of a window and basic programs, and do activities to practise what they have learned.
Intermediate activities cover connecting to the internet, using internet programs and using other basic programs.
Advanced activities cover understanding multimedia, and planning and making a website.
